Aerobics gymnastics trio finishes 3rd in Asian Champs.

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – The trio of Iranian aerobics gymnasts managed to gain the bronze medal at the fifth Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Vietnam.

Iran’s national aerobics gymnastics team took part in 15-17 and over 18 (senior) age groups of Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships.

In the trio section, Sahand Safizadeh, Alireza Nabipourand Amir Hossein Baniasad managed to stand on the bronze podium jointly with South Korea to finish third in the fifth round of the event.

The Iranian squad consisted of Amin Arbab, Alireza Nabipour, Saeed Maleki, Sahand Safizadeh, Sajad Shamsi, Amir Hossein Baniasad, Mahmoud Zoghi, Sajad Rafeai, Behnam Dovisti, Erfan Nourani as well as Ali Khalili led by Mohammad Mehrtash and Ali Nasiri.

As many as 242 athletes from 10 countries and territories in Asia are participating in the fifth Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships, which began on December 11 and will wrap up today on December 13 in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam.

The gymnasts, coming from Australia, China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Thailand and Vietnam, have been divided into three age groups; 12-14, 15-17 and over 18 (senior) and are competing in individual man, individual woman, mixed pairs, trios and five-member team events.
